Forget me not Flowers; Alaska State Flower, Yellow Background, Blue Flowers

Apart of Erica Catherine's US State Flower Collection, the Forget me not Flower represents the State of Alaska. The blue flowers are shown on top of a yellow color background. The forget me not flower adopted as the state flower in 1917. The flowering dogwood was actually chosen as the official state flower 42 years prior to Alaska being admitted as the 49th State of the US. The Alpine forget me nots are one of the few plants in nature that are truly blue, making it a some what rare and beautiful find. The flowers can be found during the late June through late July through out open, rocky places up high in the mountains. The name "forget-me-nots" refers to the Greek name Myosotis a combination of 'mus' and 'otis' meaning mouse ear. This refers to the shape of the leaves on the plant. The forget me not has a very strong symbolic value, representing fidelity and never ending love.

Inspired by the natural and antique details that call to Erica's Old soul, she aims to bring that special spirit to all of her designs. Each drawing is created by hand using a mixture of graphite drawing with watercolor layering over the top to create the ethereal and vintage inspired work that harks back to turn of the century botanical illustration.
